On Monday, scientists from the U5 were fascinated by talks on a wide range of subjects at the GCSE Science Live! event at Bristol’s Ashton Gate Stadium. Particularly inspiring was Professor Jim Al-Khalili, who spoke on the topic of the possibility of time travel, reminding us of the short distance between the fiction of movies such as Interstellar and factual possibilities. Professor Lord Robert Winston raised thought-provoking ideas about biological topics relating to female fertility whilst Dr Anna Ploszajski and Dr Hannah Critchlow shared stories inspired by their research on materials science and the power of joined-up thinking.
