Meet Esme, L6

Esme’s journey started with us in Upper Fourth, boarding in Aldemsted West, a buzzing house full of energy from girls aged between 11 and 12. She is now in Lower Sixth, studying History, English, and Drama A Levels and is looking ahead to what her final year at Sherborne Girls will bring.

Passionate about journalism and presenting, Esme has achieved a regular slot on local radio, hosting a live show for an hour every Sunday. Each week, she puts together a creative schedule of indie alternative music with information on the artists behind the work, in the hope that her listeners will be inspired to delve further into their music. She is passionate about creating a platform for others to thrive and interested in the reasoning behind each piece. Inspired by Stacey Dooley and the incredible documentaries and topics that she covers, Esme is determined to follow in her footsteps.  As a corporal at CCF, she guides the junior cadets, leading them through the military syllabus to help develop important leadership and teamwork skills.

Lower Sixth is a definitive point in a girl’s journey at Sherborne. They are in their final year of mixed housing, about to make the move to Mulliner, an Upper Sixth only house. Upon asking Esme to reflect on her time boarding, she was incredibly positive about the unbreakable friendships that are formed in houses and is very proud to hold the position of Head of House.

Looking ahead to the future and Esme’s aspirations, she is excited to take a gap year, travelling to Egypt to achieve her masters in scuba diving. Once home, she is driven to achieve a career in journalism and is open to her next steps in achieving this goal.

Our final question to Esme – ‘what would you tell your younger self?’.

     Her reply:

‘take every opportunity you can find because the more things you do, the more people you can relate to; and the more doors open up in your life.’

We can’t wait to watch Esme achieve her dreams!
